Roadmaps & Results: How We Built Our 2026 Programming Lineup

You might be wondering what types of programs and support interested individuals might get from the ONE Future Foundation. When we began designing our first-ever programs, we dreamed big: so many great ideas, so much potential for meaningful movement. Microloans? Cultural immersion awards? Leadership grants? Yes! As a brand-new Sorority foundation, could we do it all? Should we?

Short answer: Yes. And also not yet.

Let’s start with what we ARE launching in 2026

Academic Excellence Legacy Awards (Scholarships)

The AELA program supports initiated members of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc.  pursuing higher education, regardless of active status, with two $500 awards: one undergraduate member and one GAP member.

Eligibility highlights:

  • Initiated member with a 3.0 GPA or higher (exceptions considered)
  • Degree-seeking, full time, and compliant with Qualified Education Expenses parameters
  • Enrollment in trade school, college, or university (nonprofit or for-profit)

SOAR (Sustainable Outreach, Advocacy, and Resilience) Grants

The SOAR Grant program empowers members to design service projects that create meaningful community impact while providing the added benefit of an unrestricted donation to their sponsored nonprofit.

Eligibility highlights:

  • Projects must advance outreach, advocacy, equity, resilience, and community wellbeing
  • Sponsors must demonstrate the capacity to complete the project
  • Sponsored organizations must be 501(c)(3) or equivalent public-benefit charities

Why We Chose a Small, Strong, and Safe Approach

This Foundation is the culmination of nearly 30 years of purpose and action, and that’s something we take very seriously, which is why we’re endeavoring to build something real that can continue to grow. We want to support the Sorority and our communities without inviting audits, tax penalties, or legal chaos. Starting small, strong, and safe allows us to become effective immediately while investigating new pathways to make our dream programming come true down the line. We will have long-term freedom to grow without assuming too many risks early on.

In 2026, we will be laying the groundwork for future programming that we hope will change people’s lives through direct mutual aid-style giving and fuel Sorority-led educational and leadership efforts. We’re excited to build this future with you, and we hope you will join us in taking our first steps as the long-awaited, much-anticipated ONE Future Foundation.

The Dream List and the Reality Check

We explored scholarships at every level, research and service awards, humanitarian relief, National Convention grants, chapter-directed funds, and more. If it advanced learning, justice, equity, or community care, it made the list.

But before we launched any programs, we had to get answers for some serious questions: Can we give money to 501(c)(7) sorority entities? How do we ensure fair processes? And even, could an award unintentionally create a tax burden for someone receiving it?

As a 501(c)(7) social club, Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. – along with all its regions and chapters – faces IRS scrutiny for every penny received. Even well-intentioned contributions can create tax issues and jeopardize the organization’s nonprofit status. Directly funding chapters would require a very high level of compliance and attention to keep the organization safe – things like airtight oversight, dedicated accounts, strict expense boundaries, independent review, and more.

That’s a heavy lift for a small volunteer working board and a young foundation.

A Future Worth Building

We believe we owe it to our donors and our community – you! – to make wise choices that are justifiable, and leave ourselves room to grow smartly and safely. After legal and tax review, we chose a strategy that protects both the Sorority and the Foundation.

This is why, for now, we are not funding direct support to regions and chapters, member experience programming like funding social activities with other Greek organizations, or complex donor-advised funds. Instead, we are launching programs that align well with the Foundation’s mission like scholarships, public-benefit opportunities, and other high-impact, scalable, low-risk initiatives.

Starting small, strong, and safe ensures that we will have a functional organization to lovingly deliver to the next generation of ONE Future Foundation board members.
